On behalf of the NAME Foundation Board of Trustees, I would like to announce the seventh annual Saturday evening NAME Foundation fundraising event, to be presented in conjunction with the NAME Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas.  This year’s event will be a look at Jeffrey Dahmer Deaths, and will not be open to the public. The presenter will be our very own Dr. Jeffrey Jentzen and his presentation entitled The Jeffrey Dahmer Death Investigation: Questions and Answers 30 Years Later. Jeffrey M. Jentzen, MD, PhD is an Emeritus Clinical Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Jentzen served as medical examiner for Milwaukee County Wisconsin from 1987 to 2008. The Milwaukee office investigated the 1991 Jeffrey Dahmer deaths. Since 2008, Dr. Jentzen has been at the University of Michigan practicing in the autopsynd forensic service. This presentation will provide first-hand documentation and insight into the Jeffrey Dahmer death investigation. It will examine the social, cultural, racial, and political environment in Milwaukee at the time which influenced the investigation. An effort to understand Dahmer’s psychological state and motivation for killing will be discussed. The presentation will review death investigative practices and challenges in a pre-911 era when DNA analysis and federal mass fatality funding was not readily available to medical examiner offices. In addition, the talk with illustrate the concept of the mini-disaster, although small in the number of victims, these disasters present similar logistical and strategic obstacles similar to larger multiple fatality incidents.
Note: Only persons who have registered for the 2022 NAME Annual Meeting (including vendors) will be allowed to register for this presentation. ALL attendees will be required to wear their meeting name badge and anyone without a badge will not be allowed to enter the presentation room. NAME members may vet another person(s) such as a spouse or significant other by confirming that they are an appropriate audience for the material presented, however no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to attend.
Absolutely NO photography, videography or audio recordings will be permitted. Anyone in violation will be immediately escorted out of the building and their recording device will be confiscated.
Any person purchasing a ticket for this event who does not register for the 2022 NAME Annual Meeting will not receive a refund of their donation.
The event will serve as an outreach fundraiser for the NAME FOUNDATION to help raise scholarship money for Forensic Pathology Fellows, Pathology Residents, and students to attend and make scientific presentations at the NAME Annual Meeting. As such, attendance at this event will be associated with a small donation and require pre-registration. Ticket donations are $10 for students, residents and fellows-in-training, and $20 for everyone else. NAME members may wish to opt for a special package deal: with a $50 donation, NAME members will receive a 1 year NAME Foundation Membership (with free access to the AFP journal) and admission to the event. Pre-registration will be only via the NAME Foundation Website.
